That’s a nice rifle and a service kit!

Do you think anyone wants to carry around a 3 lb pack to service a rifle? If it needs all that, than it really is “field ready”, its “very specific fight ready”

The rifle with all the mods is something that really does not work in the afgan environment, humping weight. Maybe in Iraq it might work for city work in static positions but way too much crap to haul just to clean/service it.

I have one of the first sage kits, and though it was the shit, UNTIL I carried it, tried to clean it, add a scope to it. If it gets into mud with those holes, it will make it inoperative really quickly. With a can it balances very poorly in the front.

I removed the plastic handguard, used a piece of aluminum to cover the op rod, in a effort to reduce weight/improve handling.

Much better options but the M14 Scope Mounts lovers wont let it go.

Nice write up BTW.

Three pounds is LESS than what two loaded and pouched M14 Scope Mounts magazines weight.
That weight is inconsequential to the overall equipment weight an individual soldier carries and a soldier doing a day patrol does not need to carry everything in that kit.

Received this from a Threeper I trust implicitly regarding LaRue Tactical quality control problems and service issues. He included a copy of a series of emails back and forth beginning in December of last year. Here’s his latest to me:

Mike,

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.

If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.

The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.

Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.

The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

Thanks,

My son has been collecting the components to build himself a 7.62 NATO sniper platform on an Armalite receiver much like the one pictured. He was thinking, if memory serves me correctly, of getting a LaRue Tactical mount like the one pictured. I will discourage him from doing so.

Mesa Tactical was supposed to be releasing some pretty badass new shotgun stocks styled after the Benelli M4 stocks, but with short LOPs. Anyone get any photos of these by chance?

“This is the system you can overload like a fucking Jingle truck and carry 500 mags, 18 smokes, 12 pistol mags and 3 medical kits for, you know, SHTF. Oh yeah, and a multi-tool.” – TimW

I love it when people quote me and it just happens to fit. :)I bought a Mesa Tactical 8 round shot shell holder for my Benelli M4 over two years ago. Well at the last multi-gun match the three of the screws stripped out of the receiver rail and weren’t repairable.
I contacted Mesa Tactical and they sent me a return shipping label and told me to send my old one in for repair. Well a week after I mailed my old rail back a BRAND NEW one arrived! I have had good customer service from other places before but I’d have to say this is the BEST customer service I have ever had.
If there is ever a product that I need that Mesa Tactical makes I am definately going to buy from them!

Thanks Mesa Tactical!
